Experience Week 2019

Welcome to Experience Week!
This is an adventure: we are all new to this experience - teachers too!, so it’s an adventure for all of us!

THIS (P3) is one of your teachers’ passion projects!!

Be a doer.
Not a dreamer.
(watch the video in the notes!)

Please watch this video: https://ytcropper.com/cropped/Eu5c464d99778e0. Then look at the next few slides to see some of the things we can learn from it.

Take another look at our P3 Assessments & Rubric document: https://docs.google.com/a/roycemoreschool.org/document/d/1gSR9fVDHnKf9txRjt...

You will be asked to fill out a self-assessment, based on this rubric, at the end of the week.

Be proactive: Take initiative and work without waiting for instructions. Have a good attitude, and persevere.

Finished?

There is no such thing as being finished with P3! There is always something more you can do!

Optional Activities

A list of "extra" things to try is here: https://sites.google.com/roycemoreschool.org/mse/programs/p3/optional-exper... (also on Google Classroom). If you need some extra inspiration, or aren't sure what to do next, check out those activities. They may include VR, inspirational videos, self-assessments, art activities, etc.

Begin with the end in mind: Picture your success.

What do you want to achieve by Friday afternoon?

Think about this question. Close your eyes for a minute and think about what you'd like to achieve.

Stick to the schedule and participate this week! Use your time wisely, and only take breaks when necessary.

Here is a list of the rooms we will use this week (if you're at school). You are free to move about these rooms, but be sure a teacher is in the room.

Use the Break Room (227) to take a break - these breaks will be limited to 15 minutes. And remember, you can only go in there if a teacher is there.

Help one another and hold one another accountable.

We’ve planned activities that we can all benefit from, if we work together.

Accept feedback from your coaches, mentors, and others.

We expect you to contact your mentor at least twice, preferably every day this week.

Help each other.

Even if you’re not working together for your P3 project, don’t hesitate to ask your fellow students, teachers, and mentors for help this week! Help one another!

Reflect each day
Through Google Classroom, you will submit a written reflection and at least one picture each day. We will give you time at the end of each day to work on it.

Daily Assignment

  • Reflection
  • Picture
  • Mentor?
Reflect each day
Through Google Classroom, you will submit a written reflection and at least one picture each day. We will give you time at the end of each day to work on it.

The written reflection need not be long: just a few sentences is fine. The picture can be of anything: you working on your project, a screenshot of what you've done on your computer, a picture of the work so far. You can send more than one picture if you like.

We will also ask you each day if you contacted your mentor.

The P3 Expo will be Friday, March 15 in the morning (Palio day). At the Expo, everyone will share something. And we will listen to one another. You should be thinking about what you will share at the Expo during Experience Week.

The P3 Expo shows a snapshot of your passion project.

The Expo should share a snapshot of your learning so far in your passion project. Mrs. Shutters will come around and discuss what would be best for each project.

Be a doer.
Not a dreamer.

Remember: Be a doer, not a dreamer!
