All used materials and trash gets placed in trash container on dropcloth (No trash in yard ever)
Review job scope with project manager.
Make all notes necessary regarding materials to be used, job sequencing, preparation & painting procedures, finish standards, job progress and estimated project completion date.
These following items may be in your job scope or may not, but are a good general checklist and sequencing of exterior painting jobs.
Wash house using 10% bleach and Dawn dishwashing soap. (Scrub where necessary and rinse window of soap thoroughly) Older homes may not be able to be pressure washed because of window leakage.
Tape all glass and cover everything necessary. Decks, cement, plants, A/C units, etc. Do not cover grass and plants with plastic. Use dropcloths. Plastic will hold the suns heat and burn all the plants.
Set all nails necessary in siding and trim (Nails that are not set let water in and cause water damage to wood)
Scrape and or sand all failing paint to bare wood. ( Consider replacing wood instead if water damaged or if it would be cheaper to replace it then prep it.
Putty nail holes. If using oil based putty like Crawford's Brand you will not need to sand the putty. If you are using spackle to fill nail holes, you will probably have to fill the hole once, allow to dry and fill once more to make sure that the fill is flat and level with the surface and not "cupped". After the second application of spackle dries, sand, clean and prime.
Clean up job site thoroughly. ( We do not ever clean our tools at job sites and we never pour dirty paint water, solvents or chemicals onto customers property. Ever.)
Clean window glass if necessary.
Meet with project manager and walk the job. Do any punch list items found.
Go home and brag about what a good painter you are.
