EXTERNAL BLEEDING

FIRST RESPONDER

MINOR BLEEDING

  • apply direct hand pressure
  • clean if necessary
  • cover with clean dressing

MAJOR BLEEDING

  • examine wound for embedded objects
  • apply pressure to stop bleeding
  • elevate if possible
  • restrict movement
  • immobilise the part

NOSE BLEED

  • pinch nostrils for 10 mins
  • spit out any blood
  • breathe through mouth
  • don't blow nose

  • do not remove the object
  • apply pressure around the object
  • high risk of infection
