Fitzgerald attended Princeton, where his obsession with the wealthy grew, and hate for social classes grew. He eventually was kicked out and joined the military.
WHILE IN THE MILITARY HE WROTE HIS FIRST BOOK (THE SIDE OF PARADISE) AND MET ZELDA
After Princeton Fitzgerald joined the army during WWI. He was an infantry office and stationed in Montgomery. Here he met his future wife Zelda Sayre. The war ended before Fitzgerald was deployed.
Gatsby wrote many books in his lifetime, none really famous, or made him much money. These short books brought him some wealth but not much. He was also never really satisfied with them.
GATSBY TODAY IS HIS BIGGEST SUCCESS, BUTAT THE TIME THE BOOK WAS A HUGE FLOP.
Gatsby was Fitzgerald's big masterpiece. He spent a very long time on creating this book. The book was almost a reflection of him, and really incorporated his life. At the time the book was a minor flop. He became very disappointed in himself after his book released.
AFTER THE BOOK FLOPPED HE HAD TO LEAVE NEW YORK, AND LOST MOST OF HIS WEALTH.
Gatsby ran into a 9 year dry spell of books, never writing. He ran through all his money in New York and eventually had to leave. His life took a dive for the worse after Gatsby.
