Ocean Cliff's F.A. 3.0 reflection

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

What was your plan?

  • to create a unit that incorporates formative assessment practices (K-7) using Maker Spaces
  • to be able to share with staff at our May Pro. D. day

WHAT DID YOU LEARN?

  • I need time to talk with my colleagues
  • Having the 'gift' of time to talk was instrumental to my learning
  • There are creative ways to build in 'talk time' in to our practice (buddies, student teacher, District release time)
  • Everyone is on a personal learning journey---not everyone is where I am at, or is open to being curious
  • How powerful it is to make learning intentions visiblel and known to students and parents

WHAT HELPED YOUR LEARNING?

  • seeing concrete examples of the various parts of the planning tool from Hillcrest
  • sharing, learning, doing at the F.A. 3.0 sessions
  • Hillcrest modelling the tools and examples they had used
  • closing my door and blocking out the negativity from those who have not 'drunk for koolaid'
  • seeing students respond and their engagement---the realization that F.A. really 'works'

WHERE TO NEXT?

  • More LI \ "I Can" statements posted around the room
  • Formative Assessment Classrooms - where are we all at in our school? How do we move forward?
  • Create inquiry question focused on school goal
  • BIG IDEAS 'visible' (incorporate 'new' curriculum)
  • educate parents about a 'growth mindset' and changing 'communicating student learning' (NEW report card)
