  • English and Latin and gave him a copy of the Journal of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
  • Early 1823 a grizzly ripped off Smiths ear and his scalp.
  • While he was recovering Indians suddenly killed everyone but him.

  • Died - May 27,1831 (aged32) south of Ulysses Kansas
  • Smith got killed by comanche Indians
