  • Born December 10, 1815 in Piccadilly, England. Died November 27, 1852 in London.

CHILDHOOD

  • Sickly child suffering headaches that affected visions since age 8
  • 1829 (13 yrs) she caught the measles which paralyzed and confined to bed for a year.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • wrote the world's first machine algorithm for an early computing machine that existed only on paper.
  • June 5, 1833 she met Charles Babbage
  • Babbage invited her to see a small-scale version of the calculating machine called the difference engine. 
  • Inventions: Analytical Engine, designed flying machine 
  • Her works eventually became a separate work field of computer science in the 20th century
