There are 3 different types of fantasy worlds
In one novel, it can start and end in a fantasy world. Ex. The Hobbit
In another book it can start in the real world and move to a fantasy world. Ex. The wizard of oz
The third type is where it can be in the real world but magical elements are used.
Authors usually use a portal to get from the real world to the fantasy world.
