F.A.T CITY WORKSHOP

ANXIETY

  • The information cannot get through under pressure.
  • In order to stay away from the source of anxiety, the students look away.
  • Seem to ignore the teacher.

PROCESSING

  • LD students need time to process the question being asked.
  • After they have figured out the question, they might feel confident to answer it.

RISK-TAKING

  • Without rewards or recognition students will not take risks.
  • Volunteering needs to be rewarded in order to have students participate in class.

VISUAL PERCEPTION

  • Not related to motivation.
  • The use of direct instruction will facilitate the learning process.
  • What the students need is a teacher.

READING COMPREHENSION

  • Have to do with background instead of vocabulary knowledge.
  • Direct instruction is needed.

ORAL EXPRESSION

  • Speaking as an associative task.
  • Allow students enough time to process their thoughts in writing first.
  • After writing down their thoughts, it will get easier to orally communicate their thoughts.

READING AND DECODING

  • LD students will decode, but will not understand what they are reading.
  • The use of colors and different fonts can help the students understand the passage.

FAIRNESS

  • Everyone get what they need.
  • Not all students need the same.
