WHAT ARE FERAL ROBOT DOGS?

  • They were created by Natalie Jeremijenko at NYU.
  • These toy robot dogs are hacked to detect toxins in soil.
  • Feral Robot dogs are used by various high schools and colleges.

WHY USE THEM?

  • Feral Robot Dogs allow communities to monitor their own environmental health.
  • The project teaches STEM concepts such as math, robotics, engineering, and design.

Co-Op City & Feral Robot Dogs

  • Co-Op City is an extensive community with its own parks and communal grounds
  • Housing complex has five sections with 15,372 units.
  • Many people in the community to volunteer to use Feral Robot Dogs
  • Co-Op City was built on a landfill/swamp.

Feral Robot Dogs & P.S. 153

  • P.S. 153 will be the first elementary school to use Feral Robot Dogs
  • The school will expand the program to include the Co-Op City community
  • The grant will enable the inclusion of schools and residents of Co-Op City and other parts of Bronx to expand NYU's Feral Robot Dog program
