What are the major contributions of Medieval Japan?
Answer:
• Martial arts, calligraphy, mediatation, warrior gov't, samurai, tea, yoga, slippers/flip flops, noodles, etc.


How did geography affect the development of the Japanese civilization?
Answer: Because of Japan's mountains only about 20 percent of its can be farmed. Due to a chain of many volcanic incidents, it broke off. There was a very tiny 15% of the land was good enough for farming.

What did the social hierarchy of Feudal Japan look like?
Hierarchy System:
Shogun: Emperor leader Shinto religion
Daimyo: lords/high rank samurai
Lower samurai: warriors
Artisans/peasants: Peasants made food. Artisans made goods
Merchants: made money for themselves and were viewed as selfish
Society was divide into two classes in feudal Japan, the nobility and the peasants. The noble class made up roughly twelve percent of the population with peasants making up the rest.

What was the role of women in Feudal Japan?
A woman was expected to obey her father, husband, and son. Women who belonged to the aristocracy were allowed to take part politics. Women could also become samurai warriors but this was not allowed if they were in the aristocratic class. In farming families, women had a greater say in whom they married. However, they worked long hours in the fields planting or harvesting rice.
