Japan's Contributions
In Japan they started mediation, martial arts, silk painting, washi (Japanese paper), also Japanese pottery was different from most pottery in Asia.

Japanese Geography
Because Japan was all little islands it encouraged Japanese people to be merchants, and because it was separated it forced Japan to be fiercely independent, and have its own art, literature, and philosophy.

Japan's Geography
Only 20% of the land in Japan was able to be farmed, because of its mountainous land. Fun Fact: Japan is only the size of California or smaller.

Social Hierarchy of Japan
Japan used the feudalism system were the people on the pyramid had to rely on the other people in the system to get food, clothing, and other goods.

There were five levels on Japan's social pyramid, the peasants were the lowest level, next it was samurai which were the warriors, then it was Daimyo which were the lords, second to the top on the pyramid was the shogun which was the military leader, and lastly it was the emperor which was the ruler.

Japan had 27 dynasties that started in 250 CE.

Japanese Religion
Japan practiced Shinto,a religion based on nature, Shinto has no founder nor sacred scripts. The Shinto gods are called Kami.

Japan Religion
Japan also practiced Buddhism. One type of Buddhism they practiced was called Zen Buddhism. Zen Buddhism includes mediation and martial arts.
