NO CLASS

  • A social class distinction
  • And a unchanging way of life.

THE MILITARY

  • Political system of local government.
  • And military defense.

MANORS

  • Economic system of agricultural manors.

LORD

  • Lives in a large castle.
  • Owns a manor.
  • Offers safety for anyone who lives there.
  • In return, lord receives portion of crops.
  • No hard work, and had saftey, food, etc.

ARMY/MILITARY

  • Led a military.
  • Protected manors from invasions.
  • Protected chivalry as a code of conduct.
  • Received portion of land (fief)
  • Life could be exciting, some adventures.

WORKING/AVERAGE LIFE

  • Worked fief given to him by The Lord.
  • 40 days of military service to lord.
  • Gave payments of crops or money to The Lord.
  • Could also work in trade.
  • Life was also average.

PEASANTS

  • Bound to the land.
  • Not slaves but could not leave the manor.
  • Had to pay a fee for getting married.
  • Produced everything they needed.

WORK/HARD LABOR

  • Majority of feudal society.
  • Daily life was aful.
  • Worked long hard days.
  • No hope for change for structure.

NOTHING NEW

  • NO EDCUATION
  • NO NEW TECHNOLOGY
  • But practiced christianty.

CHRISTIANTY

  • Big in Europe.
  • Belief that everyone was a sinner.
  • Fear caused devout worship of the church.
  • People also took scaramnets.
