  • Slow and steady wins the race
  • The hare moves quickly and tires himself out so he takes a nap and the tortoise moves slowly yet consistently and beats the hare

PECOS BILL VOCABULARY

  • Cellar- a basement were stuff is stored- all the people run into the cellar to hide from the cyclone and Bill calls it the "'fraid holes'" because people hide in fear
  • Cyclone- tornado- When the cyclone ruins the Fourth of July party, Bill wrestles the cyclone until it dies
  • Usurped- to steal power from or take back- When the cyclone interrupts the party, it thinks it has all the power, but Bill tames it takes all the power away from it
