Elementary Gifted Interview Questions

What does it mean to be in the advanced content class?

• 2 out of 6 students felt that they were smarter than the other students in the grade. They agreed that they had to work harder to keep that status.
• 2 students said that you have to work harder in AC but that doesn't mean you are smarter; you just learn differently and usually make better grades
• 1 student did not understand the question

Why are you gifted?

• All 6 felt they were smart
• 4 out of 6 students said they were able to process things in a different way than others which made them gifted

What is your best subject? Why?

• 1 Reading - can sound out words quickly
• 2 Math - easier for them and can do in their head
• 1 ELA/Writing - getting things down on paper is easier for this student
• 2 Social Studies - 1 felt he remembered the info more easily in this subject; 1 thought he made the best grades in this subject but really enjoyed math best

Do you mind if students know that you are gifted?

Do you feel like your teacher challenges you?

• She will give us harder work if she thinks it is too easy for us.

• "I understand we're supposed to learn stuff every year, but I keep learning it the same way and wish it were a different way."
