  • This signifies that the earth would have shook vigorously.

Metaphor

  • Here the author describes the sunset.

Hyperbole

  • "the trees along the bank were slowly losing their dimensions..."
  • This shows that in the dusk, all you can see of the trees is their silhouettes.

Alliteration

  • It describes how Winnie was riding the horse.

  • This shows that the air was full of noises that gave it a humming quality.
