1.
PROTECTED SPECIES
The Humback Wrasse is an endangered species.
This fish is often hunted because it's considered a delicacy.
When given time it can become 30 years old and 7.5 feet.
This fish although protected is still hunted/sold on the black market.
It's slowly making a comeback though thanks to human protection.
2.
NAMENA MARINE RESERVE
If you fish on this reserve you could go to jail for five years.
Since Fiji's industry is fishing this is a huge step in environmental protection.
Although for a while this reef was heavily polluted and there was no fish.
But thanks to human restoration Namena reef is healthy and growing.
3.
SEA TURTLES
Sea turtles are one of the many protected species around Fiji.
Absolutely no one can hunt a sea turtle without becoming a criminal.

POSITIVE INTERACTION
Mt. Rotuma is also a protected site on fiji
Mt. Rotuma is a dormant volcano surrounded by forests.
A lot of wildlife lives in the forest surrounding Mt. Rotuma.

MARINE USE
In Fiji local villages determine how much you can hunt and which
species are protected. So if you disobey a hunting rule you are locally
punished by the natives. This type of management is letting local
species make a comeback, because if the locals see on species is
having trouble they simply take it off the menu.
6.
WATER POLOUTION
Water pollution is very severe in Fiji.
Of course the pollution is kept a way from the natural reefs.
Pollution is most likely found on and around the big resorts where people swim.
7.
OVERFISHING
Overfishing is a big concern on Fiji off the protected reserves.
Many fish are endangered and protected because of overfishing.
8.
RESORTS
Big resorts often cause lots of pollution and don't show any care for the environment.
The worse thing is that the resorts let people swim in the polluted water.
Of course not all the resorts are like this.
9.
FORESTING
FORESTING IS A PROBLEM IN FIJI SINCE MOST OF FIJI IA COVERED IN FORESTS.

AIR POLLUTION
In the big towns of Fiji air pollution is a pretty big problem.
