1. GEOGRAPHY OF CUBA

GEOGRAPHY FEATURES

  • The average temperature is around 25 Celsius.
  • The region temperature is semitropical to fully tropical.
  • Precipitation In the area is around 30(cm) and almost all lowlands get around 90(cm)
  • Droughts are common within Cuba's eastern coast, the coast can also be hit by some major hurricanes during the year causing great economic loss.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE/RELIGIONS

  • Cuba's official language is Spanish.
  • Nominally Roman Catholic 85%, also there is Protestant, Jehovah's Witnesses, Jewish, Santeria

TRADITIONAL CULTURE

  • First off some cool aspects of there culture is the musical innovation involved with African and Spanish origins brought from African slaves and Spanish islanders from the Canary Islands.
  • Cubans also like to play baseball and in the world baseball classic they got 2nd against Japan. Some other sports they like are basketball,boxing,rugby and volleyball.
  • There are some tourist attractions like Havana and Guantanamo bay.

MORE CULTURE

  • Most meat eaten is pork because it is turned into a low-quality 2$(USA) a pound and Beef is not regularly eaten by city dwellers.
  • International Festival of the Latin-American film in Havana.
  • Festival de la Cultura Caribe - Caribbean culture festival Every year in June or July
  • Festival de la Música Electroacústica - Electrofestival - in Varadero Every year in April

  • Some resources include cobalt, nickel, iron ore, copper, manganese, salt, timber, silica, petroleum, and arable land.
  • Cuba's government as been lacking in sanitation services, In turn more of the urban population has been getting sick from water-borne diseases.

  • 2013-2014 the unemployment rate decreased by 2.70 and averaged 3.30 rate.
  • Cuba is ranked 44 on highly developed countries.
  • Cuba is also ranked 44 for the income index.

TRADES AND ECONOMIC SYSTEMS

  • Cuba has a planned economy and is the government controls it, also the communist party has mentioned in the recent years that cooperatives and self employment are get options in there economy's
  • Cuba's trade agreement allows duty-free treatment of specific goods such as fruit juices, various sauces and condiments. This allows to have a reduced price from a tarrif.

POLITICAL STATUS AND URBAN STANDINGS

POLITICAL SYSTEM/ LEADER

  • Cuba is a communist state, Raul Castro the brother of Fidel Castro is the president of the council of state, in which has full judicial power.
  • Raul Castro is the president of the council state and the president of the ministers conical and is the commander in chief of the armed forces on June 31 2006. He got the presidential power when his brother Fidel Castro had got ill.

CUBAN WAR OF INDEPENDENCE

  • The Cuban War of Independence (1895–1898) was the last of three liberation wars that Cuba fought against Spain
  • The three final months escalated with it becoming the Spanish-American war forcing American troops to be deployed in Cuba.

  • A urban issue in Cuba is with agriculture,Cubans reorganized food production and worked to gain food sovereignty as a means of subsistence, environmental protection, and national security.
  • Cuba's fuel consumption is around an estimated 2,218.54.
  • This is mainly from fuel and natural gas.
