habitat

  • there are 2 kind of finger monkeys 
  • the eastern and western marmoset
  • they can be found in 
  • Peru,  Amazon Basin, Brazil, & Bolivia
  • live almost all their life in trees 

appearance

  • head-body length ranging from 117 to 152
  • the tail is 172 to 229
  • the adult size is usually 100 grams
  • the female is heavier then the males
  • the color is a mix of browns, greys, and black

FOOD

  • finger monkeys have insect like claws 
  • this way they can get "tree gum"
  • they gnaw at the a tree to get sap
  • they eat the gum, sap, resin, & latex 
  • the group takes up about 2 trees

predators

  • surprisingly there are few predators
  • within the few are Raptors,  & hawks. 
  • there are also snakes and wild cats
  • the other predator is humans

family

  • the marmoset usually stays in a group of 12
  • they are sometimes rough with each other
  • they spend all their free time together
  • they grow sad together when someone dies
  • they do almost everything together

Pets?

  • the marmoset are very cute 
  • they can come endanger from being captured 
  • they get taken by people and sold as pets 
  • they are better off in the wild 
  • but they could be good pets

communication

  • they communicate with each other through sounds
  • they make clicking noises 
  • they talk to each other a lot 
  • they encourage their young 
  • they tell when there is danger

  • one of the newest species of monkey found
  • smallest primates of the world known
  • they have a diet of tree gum 
  • least concern of endangerment
