• A flood is an overflowing of a large amount of water beyond its normal confines

TWO BASIC TYPES OF FLOODS

• Flash floods- is a short term inundation of small areas
• River flood- is were a river floods an area after heavy rainfall

HOW DO FLOODS AFFECT THE ENVIRONMENT

• Chemicals end up in water sources like rivers, lakes, and wells
• Floods kill animals
• They upset the natural balance of the ecosystem
