How Florida got its name:
Only 6 days after Easter, the famous Spanish conquistador, Juan Ponce De Léon, landed near what is now St.Augustine. Since the holiday had just passed, and the area had an abundance of plant life, Ponce named it Florida for the Spanish phrase (Easter) and pascua Florida meaning (feast of flowers) was the oldest European name in the U.S.

☀️Florida nickname: Sunshine state☀️
-the nickname was previously owned by the 1970 legislature because before that, the law required (sunshine state) to be on the license of motor vehicles
