WHAT IS FLOW?

FLOW is a modern system of pipes specially designed for the purpose of water being centered in one pipe only to eventually save water.

HOW DOES FLOW WORK?

It all starts in the shower. The water that is used inside the shower travels through a pipe that leads to a container where the water is stored. From there, the water needed to flush the toilet goes through the pipe, while the remaining water stays in place. Finally, when the water is flushed from the toilet, it travels through the pipe ending up in the sewer system.

WHAT IS FLOW'S PURPOSE?

95% of the water used in our homes goes down the drain. When in the sewer system, water usually gets contaminated and infected by chemicals from other sources. Also, certain pipe systems installed in households tend to waste more water than others. This happens due to the fact that there are more pipes leading to the sewer system; therefore, different sources of water travel through the pipes. Taking this into consideration, we came up with FLOW; a new, innovative way to save water.

HOW WILL IT HELP?

This system will help people to save and reuse water. Since the percent of wasted water will decrease by implementing this pipe system, there will be more available water for communities that lack of this resource. Also, seeing that the system includes only one main pipe, it will be more accesible to those in need. Households that have old pipe systems can improve their quality of living by changing their system into this new, modern one. This proves how FLOW is the future of water, and implementing it in homes is beneficial for everyone.

WHY WILL FLOW WORK?

FLOW is made up of different mechanisms that have different functions in order for it to work effectively. The materials used in this project are specially designed for the tasks that the pipes will fulfill. Also, different hydraulic bombs will be present at the openings of the pipes in order for water to flow efficiently. In the economical point of view, the system is more accesible due to the simple, yet productive pipeline that is involved. FLOW is practical and beneficial for anyone that wishes to have it.

HOW WAS FLOW CREATED?

At the beginning of this project, we all discussed our different abilities and strengths. We were all able to identify ourselves with a present crisis, and we decided to work together to stop it. We developed FLOW hoping to create a water saving mechanism that would be beneficial to everyone. Since some of us are talented with technology and others are better with arts and crafts, we all used our abilities on what we do best. This way, we all developed the project to the best of our abilities. Once we put everything together, the outcome and our teamwork turned out to be a success.

FLOW IN OUR DAILY LIVES

Water is a basic need in our lives. Without it, we cannot carry out our daily activities. We live in a world where water is hard to obtain. This is why FLOW was created. To improve the lifestyle of people inside their households to eventually advantage those in need of this resource. As we learned about the amount of water that is consumed by an average person, we realized that the waste of water is in fact a big problem. It was traumatizing to see how the numbers of wasted water are constantly increasing, and how people are not doing anything to solve this issue. This project has taught us the importance of saving our environment and that it's vital for people to start making a change in their lives.
