PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE AFFECT OF WHITE VINEGAR ON FLOWERS

JAKE JACOBS 7E

QUESTION

How will white vinegar affect the flowers?

ANALYSIS

My experiment went as I expected. The flowers in vinegar died quicker than the ones in water which I presume was do to the acidity the vinegar gave the water. The differences were notable with the flowers in vinegar browning quicker and wilting much faster than the control group.

QUALITATIVE DATA

Throughout the experiment there not any drastic changes but multiple small ones, size and color changed daily and the difference between Day 6 and 7 was very big, especially in color because the flowers changed majorly with them turning brown and they shrunk in size.

Untitled Slide

The control group flowers never made any huge changes. The flowers remained about the size of a tennis ball throughout my experiment and as time progressed the shriveled up. As for color, the flowers became yellower every day, and at the end they were brown and had completely shriveled up. In the end, the control group kept up better than the experimental. The experimental group died quicker and was brown and extremely shriveled up on the final day.

DAY 2

The experimental group is on the right and the control is on the left.

FLOWER GROWTH

Throughout my experiment the growth fluctuated but ultimately the control group grew taller than the experimental.

GRAPH OF FLOWER PETALS THAT FELL OFF

No flower petals fell off throughout my experiment.

CONCLUSION

The flowers in white vinegar would not live as long as the flowers in water. My data did support my hypothesis because the flowers in the experimental group died quicker and wilted much faster than the others. This might be because of the acidity in the water that the vinegar would have given it. If this experiment were to be redone, I could have taken pictures every night to have proof of how the flowers looked. I also could have used a centimeter ruler instead of using an inches ruler and converting it to cm. In the future it could be tested how the flowers would grow in half vinegar and half water instead of 450 mL of water and 50mL of vinegar.
