PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Charlie Gordon
Charlie is a man who was mentally disabled yet had a surgical operation to improve his intelligence by a significant amount.
Algernon
Algernon is a mouse that had the same operation Charlie did to increase his intelligence, a lab animal tested before Charlie. He and Charlie became good friends.
Alice Kinnin
Alice was Charlie's teacher that taught the remedial adults. She and Charlie became very close, she was always there for him through the process and he had fallen in love with her.
Rose
Rose was Charlie's mother, who had always pushed him to become smarter ever since he was a child. However sadly she had given up on him when he was still a child and forced him to live somewhere else for the sake of his sister.
Fay
Faye was Charlie's companion for sometime. She was a reckless kind of person that would love to drink and go dancing. Charlie spending time with her kind of took the edge off and helped him relax.
Charlie Gordon was a below average man with a dream to one day be smart. He worked at a bakery with friends and went to school at night to help improve his intelligence.
One day he was chosen for an experimental operation that had never been tested before on humans. It was brain surgery to help fix parts of his brain to give him the ability to absorb and remember knowledge.
At first Charlie is frustrated because he didn't instantly become smart. He would do mazes with a mouse named Algernon who had already had the operation and Algernon would always beat him.
However over time Charlie becomes smarter at a much faster rate than average learning abilities. He learns how to spell, read and beat Algernon at the mazes. However with all this newfound knowledge he starts to see the world a little differently.
One of the first things he realized was that he had developed strong feelings for Alice, his former teacher and friend. He had also come to realize that his "friends" at the bakery weren't exactly the nicest people to him.
After a while he had lost his job at the bakery because everyone began to fear or hate Charlie for his knowledge. However the doctors were paying Charlie more than enough money so he didn't have to work. But it still hurt Charlie when he'd lost the place and people he always thought of as home.
The more knowledge he gained the more he seemed to surpass everyone else. He found it hard to be able to talk to anyone or have a conversation with them, even Alice. He had surpassed the knowledge of the doctors who gave him operation.
Months had passed and it seemed clear that the operation was indeed successful so they held a big presentation to show Charlie and Algernon off to the world.
During the presentation Charlie hadn't known the had took video of him in his state before the operation and was angry
