DESCRIPTION

  • Pale yellow gas
  • Latin word "fluere" meaning"to flow".
  • Highly toxic
  • It can combine with almost any other element on earth
  • Fluorine is found in the halogen group

DISCOVERY

  • Discovered by: Henri Moissan
  • Year: 1886
  • He was the first one able to isolate it (platinum tube)

FUN FACTS!

  • Fluorine is the most chemically reactive element, when combined with water in can produce oxygen.
  • Fluorine is found in toothpaste, our water supply, and in rocket fuel (prevent tooth decay)
  • Can cause severe burns if it comes into contact with skin
  • Once ihaled in large amounts it can cause death (it will destroy the body tissue)
  • There is 0.004% in our body
