An innovative practice being introduced is “Quiet Time” - mindfulness training, or relaxation response.

What the research shows...

There is an initial research base, with a limited number of studies showing that as a cognitive—behavioral intervention for vulnerable students, “Quiet Time” improves the physical, social, emotional, psychological, and cognitive functioning and has the potential to enhance psychosocial strengths and coping abilities. (Wisner, Jones, and Gwin, 2010)
