PLANKTON

  • Phytoplankton is on the bottom of the food chain
  • Then comes barcterioplankton
  • After that comes zooplankton
Phytoplankton is on the bottom of the food chain because it is a producer! It uses photosynthesis to combine sunlight with water and carbon dioxide to create carbohydrates for nutrients.

Barcterioplankton is a primary consumer. It eats phytoplankton.

Zooplankton is also a primary consumer. It eats barcterioplankton and phytoplankton. It is the top of the food web for plankton.

SHRIMP

  • They eat planktons
  • When they get older, they eat small worms
  • Then, THIER OWN SPECIES, mud shrimp
  • After that, mollusks
  • And then, small crabs and fish
Shrimps are secondary consumers since they eat plankton. They eat larger organisms when they get bigger.

Small worms, mollusks, and fish are eaten by shrimp. This makes these organisms Primary Consumers. They eat producers.

People, duh? Don't we all love eating shrimp? And yes, we are tertiary consumers.
