AUTOCRACY

  • a system of government by one person with absolute power
  • There are 2 types of autocracy

DICTATORSHIP

  • A dictator is a ruler who wields absolute authority.
  • One country Dictatorship takes place in is Cuba
  • 33 of of 193 countries are ruled by a dictator
  • Dictatorship occurred in Syria in 1954

MONARCHY

  • a sovereign head of state, especially a king, queen, or emperor.
  • 26 of 193 countries are governed my monarchy
  • In the U.K. queen Elizabeth II is currently ruling
  • In England monarchy started in the 17th century

OLIGARCHY

  • a small group of people having control of a country organization or institution
  • There are two types of oligarchy

MILITARY JUNTA

  • A government lead by military leaders
  • Thailand is governed by the military junta
  • in Burma it has been going on for 49 years
  • 23 out of 193 countries are military junta

COMMUNISM

  • A form a government where a small group leads
  • There is a communist in China
  • It has been going on for 74 years in Russia

DEMOCRACY

  • a form of government that the whole population that is eligible can vote
  • There are two types of democracy

DIRECT DEMOCRACY

  • When people don't have reps. and they have meeting for laws
  • Switzerland is a country with direct democracy
  • In California direct democracy started in the 1900s (no longer now)

REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY

  • A form of government where a representative represents a small group and their needs
  • In the U.S.A.
  • In the U.S.A after the founding fathers decided that it would be better than direct democracy
