FRACTIONS

FRACTIONS

  • To add or subtract fractions they must have the same denominator (the bottom value). If the denominators are already the same then it is just a matter of either adding or subtracting the numerators (the top value). If the denominators are different then a common denominator needs to be found.

INPORTANT POINTS

  • Equal Parts of a whole
  • 6 Equal parts,one six parts 1/6
  • One Sixth 1/6
  • Two Sixth 2/6
  • Fraction Express a part of a whole
  • Fractions can be written using two whole numbers and a line 1/6
  • 1/6 1 is a Numerator and 6 is a Denominator
  • Denominator tells us total number of a whole 1/6 6 is a Denominator
  • Numerator tells us how many parts are taken from that whole. 1/6 1 is a Numerator

TYPES OF FRACTIONS

  • Unit Fraction- Unit Fraction means Numerator should always be one-1
  • Like Fraction- Like Fraction should have Denominator same
  • Unlike Fraction- Unlike Fraction should not have nothing is same
  • Proper Fraction- Proper Fraction Denominator Should be greater and Numerator Should be smaller than greater number N
  • Inproper Fraction- Inproper Fraction Numerator Should be greater than Denominator and Denominator should be smaller than Numerator D
  • equivalent fractions can be defined as fractions with different numerators and denominators that represent the same value or proportion of the whole.

FRACTION

  • A fraction is a part of a whole number, and a way to split up a number into equal parts. It is written as the number of equal parts being counted, called the numerator, over the number of parts in the whole, called the denominator. These numbers are separated by a line.
