He explored to find the Seven Cities of Gold if there was any. He failed to find them.

He explored Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

Why is he important to the Americas?
Because he was the first European to explore the Grand Canyon.

What obstacles did he encounter?
He encountered many Zuní Indians and they had a war. Coronado killed many of them.
