PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE ENTITLEMENT OF FREE WILL AND FREEDOM

GIVEN TO HUMAN BEINGS BY GOD ENABLED THE HOLOCAUST TO OCCUR

FREEDOM

the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

OMNIPOTENT?

  • The general belief prior to the holocaust...
  • God was all powerful. Definition of omnipotent.
  • Holocaust questions this attribute of God, Why?
  • Because God did nothing to prevent it from happening.

INTERVENTION

  • Questions arise asking why didn't God intervene in any way, shape or form
  • The answer to these questions would be HE COULD NOT, Why?
  • God did not have the power to intervene
  • To sit and say that God could have prevented the holocaust would be false

CONTINUE INTERVENTION

  • In Genesis, God gave up his all powerfulness at the time of creation
  • By giving up his power, we (humans) were able to have free will
  • If God was to somehow intervene, it would violate out freedom which he entitled to us freely
  • Humans had the choice to prevent the Holocaust from happening but choose not too.

CONCLUSION

  • Dominion- refers to humans responsibility to free will, With great power comes great responsibility
  • God can't get back his power since we have free will
  • Also with freedom, God gives us commands in which we can accept or reject like reproduce.
  • These commands allow us to think and believe that we are free, hence God's power is let go
  • This explains why God wasn't able to intervene in this horrific incident
