Technology in the 21st Century
Whether we believe, accept it or not technology is here to stay, and is constantly evolving and developing. Almost all students today are exposed to some form of technology in their classrooms. To prepare 21st Century learners for a global society, they need 21st skills that can be reached through technology. Technology can guide students toward thinking critically about what they are learning, building interpersonal communication skills, collaborating more effectively with teams, and creating and innovating new ideas, concepts, and products.

Old Vs. New Definition of Educational Techno

  • Prior to taking this course I had the idea that using technology in classrooms is distracting and hindering to learning.

New Definition of Educational TEchnology

  • Technology is an integral part of the classroom in the 21st century. It is the language that 21st century learners can relate to. It is fun and engaging when integrated properly in a classroom.

I was able to relate the most to the ASSURE MODEL.
I found it to be straightforward and easy to remember from its acronyms

I DO BELIEVE THAT I AM WELL EQUIPPED WITH TECHNOLOGY TOOLS THAT I CAN EFFECTIVELY IMPLEMENT IN MY CURRICULUM AND CLASSROOM. MANY OF THE APPLICATIONS AND WEBSITES THAT WE HAVE USED IN THIS COURSE WERE VERY ENGAGING AND INTERESTING THAT MADE LEARNING A LOT OF FUN. I WILL DEFINITELY USE THEM ONCE I BECOME A TEACHER.
FOR EXAMPLE I FOUND THESE WEBSITES AND APPS VERY USEFUL: KAHOOT: THE GAME BASED LEARNING PLATFORM RUBISTAR: TO HELP TEACHERS CREATE RUBRICS EDPUZZLE: TO TRANSFORM ANY VIDEO INTO A LESSON AND TO BE ABLE TO TRACK STUDENTS COMPREHENSION BY INTEGRATING QUESTIONS INTO THE VIDEO

IN ADDITION TO THE 3 APPLICATIONS AND WEBSITES THAT I HAVE MENTIONED IN THE PREVIOUS SLIDE I HAVE FOUND THE FOLLOWING APPS VERY HELPFUL BECAUSE THEY ARE SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD TO USE AND MOST OF THEM ARE FREE
EMAZE: GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS
PREZI: GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS
HAIKU DECK: GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS
EXPLAIN EVERYTHING:FUN AND ENGAGING TO RECORD AND EXPLAIN A LESSON
SEESAW: ENGAGING APP BETWEEN TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND STUDENTS TRACK PROGRESS AND COMMUNICATE
