Landscape
The biome is the tundra.
The area has permafrost, and animals include polar bears, beluga whales, and caribou.
Glacier-sculpted boulders inhabit the edge of Hudson Bay, and where the sea gives way to rolling tundra.
Small shrubs push up through permafrost and vibrant flowering plants line the ground.
Stretches of boreal forest – including black spruce, white spruce and a firm mat of lichens – impinge on its usually barren terrain.

Attractions
From mid-June to mid-August the beluga whale visits the Churchill area, and is around the time the ice breaks and the water is warmer.
The best time for viewing polar bears is October and November while the bears are moving from their summer habitat to seal-hunting territory.
During summer months wildflowers explode in color and shape.
In fall the ground is coated in scarlet bearberries, yellow willows, and white tufts of Arctic avens.
