FUNCTIONALIST PERSPECTIVE

Functionalist so view aspects of society as either functional (helps society run smoother) or dysfunctional (disruptive)

EXAMPLES

  • Functional: farming, enforcing law, education
  • Dysfunctional: crime, jobs which serve only to gain a profit, ignorance.

In addition, functions can be either manifest, or latent
