Functions and Graphs

Mina Garcia P.4

Function

The relationship of each number of the domain  that is paired with a number from the range.http://www.mathwarehouse.com/algebra/relation/images2/arrow-chart-for-funct...

Domain

The domain are the x-coordinates of the ordered pairs.

Range

The range is the y-coordinates of the ordered pairs.

Linear equations

A function whose graph is a line.

Dependent Variable

Y represents the output value, which depends on the (x,y).

independent Variable

x represents the input values which is the independent variable.

slope

The slope of a non-vertical line is the ratio of a vertical change to a corresponding horizontal change.

Slope intercept form

Equation of a line that is y=mx+b

x-intercept

A line that crosses the x-axis and the x-coordinate of the point.

y-intercept

a line that crosses the y-axis or the coordinate of the point.

vertical line test

a vertical line used to determine wether a relation has  at least one variable of the domain paired with a range.
