Futurist architecture is an early-20th century form of architecture born in Italy, derived from an artistic and social movement

characterized by :

  • strong chromaticism
  • long dynamic lines
  • suggesting speed, motion, urgency and lyricism
  • emphasized technology, youth, violence and industrial objects.

historical overview :
After World War II, the enthusiasm towards the Space Age, the Atomic Age and the car culture, made Futurism an architectural approach, which was reinterpreted and transformed by generations of architects along the following decades to integrate the amazing shapes with dynamic lines and sharp contrasts,also the use of technologically advanced materials, in the architecture.

Lingotto factory in Turin, ITALY, by the architect-engineer Giacomo Matté Trucco. With its test track on the roof, was recognized in 1934 as the first futurist invention in architecture

Santiago Calatrava Valls born 28 July 1951 is a Spanish neofuturistic architect, structural engineer, sculptor and painter.
