CHURCH'S DISAPPROVAL

• Church considered the earth as the middle of the solar system
• Galileo found out that the sun was the center and earth orbited it

CHURCH DISAPPROVAL

• Church wanted to control people's thoughts
• Galileo challenged their teachings and paid the price

HOW DID HE CONRIBUTE

• He helped prove that the sun was in the middle of the solar system
• He didn't make the telescope but he made it much more effective than the original
• He tried to show the church officials but they refused to because they thought that the devil was capable of making them see the wrong things.

WHAT HE NOTICED

• He noticed that the sun had spots so he called them sun spots a term we use today
• He also noticed that the sun was moving at an axis because the spots where moving in different places
• He eventually went blind from looking and observing the sun for so long
