Galileo was the oldest out of six brothers and sisters. Galileo was born in Pisa in February 1564. His mother was named Giulia and his father was a musician named Vincenzo. The family's last name was Galilei. That means Galileo's first name was basically the same as his last name. He is often referred to 'Galileo'
Galileo made a telescope to look at Jupiter's moons, venus, saturn, neptune, sunspots, moon's craters and mountains, comets, the tides of the sea, the milky way and other different stars. He also made a microscope, thermometer and a pendulum clock.
Galileo had three children, two girls and one boy. The oldest child was named Virginia, she was a nun and chose a new name for herself. She was known as Maria Celeste. She study medicines just like her father did, but after a while she died at the age of thirty-four by dysentry.
