OF QUEBEC CITY

Quebec City has had a significant military vocation since 1608

Its fortifications are imposing and majestic

Count Frontenac is credited with laying the first stones

Their preservation however is owed to Lord Dufferin

Lord Dufferin

Today, the fortifications are a major tourist attraction...

...that is 4.6 km in length surrounding New France's old capital

In comparison, the
Great Wall of China
is 8,851 km long

On average the walls of Quebec are 25 ft high
