The American Dream is what adds to the United States' appeal. Many immigrants come to the U.S. to flee from the poverty and unfair treatment of their country with high hopes of an easier and more successful life in the U.S.

According to Jonathan Turley, Many immigrants who emigrate to the U.S. find it very difficult to adjust to their new lifestyle. They undergo many hardships such as struggling to find a job and a place to live. They have trouble communicating with others because of the language barrier. And they also have no friends or family to help them out during such a difficult time, which leads to them being homeless.

Many immigrants also come to the United States, believing that they will be accepted, but are soon faced with the harsh reality of stereotypical people. Even though people may say stereotypes don't exist, everyone at some point, will experience being stereotyped.

the harsh reality of the world has the power to crush dreams. if you don't compromise with reality to achieve your dream, your dreams will not be accomplished.

people become so caught up in trying to achieve their dreams, that they try to pursue it at any costs, which then crushes their dreams.

The Great Gatsby strongly resonates with the topic of the American Dream. although gatsby didn't emigrate into the country to achieve the american dream, he moved to west egg, where it would be easier to achieve it. Jay Gatsby overcomes his poor, humble beginning and becomes a very wealthy, and successful man.
