"Nobody looking at his angelic face would have ever suspected that he was going to dump the soiled sheets on top of Mace's prized football boots" (Jinks 7).

This quote proves how Cadel can use his looks to fool people and get revenge on them. People never see it coming and it surprises them.

" Cadel recognized the slippers. He had given them to Sonja for her birthday, because no one seemed to bother much about her feet, and it worried him. Sonja's involuntary muscular spasms sometimes knocked her feet about quite badly; he'd decided that they needed more padding and protection" ( Jinks 15).

This shows how Sonja needs extra help, so she lives in a special house. She also can't control what she does.

" So he was determined that, if she ended up in a nasty little house full of people that didn't understand her. She would have the funds to pay for a full- time attendant with a cheerful personality and an interest in mathematics" (Jinks 93).

This shows that when Cadel is making his decision to join genius squad, having money for Sonja is important for him and he wants her to be comfortable. He does not even think of what he will do.

"Cadel made a mental note of their license plate numbers. He also scanned the facade of the house for signs of electronic surveillance- and was pleased to discover an almost invisible wire running along one pediment" (Jinks 97).

Cadel is worried about his and Sonja's safety in Clearview house, a new house. They have learned to be suspicious of everything and this shouldn't be any different... Or should it.

"On the one hand, it was nice to see someone else taking responsibility for Sonja- especially since he himself was almost dropping with fatigue" (Jinks 205).

Cadel appreciates that someone else is taking care of Sonja for him. She is still his top priority, but he can't participate fully in Genius Squad and help Sonja, which is why they moved there in the first place.

"I'll happily shoot Sonja if you give me the least but of trouble. You understand that, don't you?" (Jinks 318).

Prosper kidnapped both Sonja and Cadel even though he didn't need Sonja. He knew that Cadel wouldn't act up if Sonja was threatened. He used something that Cdel loved to make him cooperate.

"He placed a hand on either side of her head, to steady it- and as he did so, he saw the look in her eyes. It made him catch his breath, 'Somethings wrong,' he gasped, 'Saul? She's trying to tell me something" (Jinks 395).

Since Sonja didn't have her DynaVox, she couldn't communicate directly with Cadel or anyone. This shows how close they have gotten, that They don't even have to talk for Cadel to know that something is bothering Sonja.
