HIMALAYA

  • separates the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau.
  • home to the planet's highest peaks
  • include over a hundred mountains exceeding 7,200 meters
  • cross six countries:Bhutan, India, Nepal, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan

GOBI

  • covers parts of China and Mongolia
  • has several different Chinese names
  • fifth-largest desert in the world and Asia's largest
  • with frost and occasionally snow occurring on its dunes

HUNSHU

  • largest and most populous island of Japan
  • population of 103 million
  • largely based on fishing and agriculture
  • island is nominally divided into five regions

PLATEAU OF TIBET
