NILE

  • Is regarded as the longest river in the world.
  • It's water is shared by 11 countries.
  • Two major tributaries are Blue and White Nile.
  • It is 6,853 km long.

SAHARA

  • It is the worlds hottest desert.
  • It is over 9,400,000 square kilometers.
  • Almost as large as China or the U.S.
  • People lived on the edge of the desert since the last ice age.

MEDITERRANEAN SEA

  • It is the sea connected to the Atlantic Ocean.
  • The name comes from Latin meaning "inland".
  • It's depth is approximately 1,500 meters deep.
  • It was an important route for traders and merchants.

GREAT RIFT VALLEY

  • It is approximately 600 km in length.
  • John Walter Gregory is the British explorer who named it.
  • It runs from northern Syria to central Mozambique.
  • It combines features that are today regarded as separate.

NIGER RIVER

  • This river is the principle river of Western Africa.
  • It's source is in the Guinea Highlands and Guinea.
  • It runs in crescent and has a massive delta.
  • The Niger is the third largest river in Afrcia.

MT. KILIMANJARO

  • Has three volcanic cones.
  • It is the highest standing mountain in Africa.
  • Kilimanjaro is a stratovolcano.
  • A landslide that occurred on one volcanic cone created the Western Breach.

LAKE CHAD

  • A large and shallow lake.
  • Provides water to more than 30 million people.
  • It is the latest lake in the Chad Basin.
  • It's tributary is the Logone.

  • It is an island nation in the Indian Ocean.
  • It is known as the Malagasy Republic.
  • It is the Worlds fourth largest island.
  • Almost 80% of the animals there cannot be found in the rest of the world.
