OF EAST ASIA

YELLOW SEA

  • Southeast from China.
  • Gets it's name because it appears to be a yellowish color.
  • Gets it's yellow color from minerals carried by the river.
  • Another name for its river is "China's Sorrows."

THE XI JIANG RIVER

  • Also called the west river.
  • Runs it's course south of China.
  • Joins with the pearl river to flow into the South China Sea.
  • Joins with three other rivers to form a estuary.

THE GOBI DESERT

  • One of the largest deserts in the world.
  • Stretches from northwest china into Mongolia.
  • Covers more than 500,000 square miles.
  • Larger than Texas and California combined.

THE KUNLUN MTS.

  • Located west of China
  • Source of two of China's greatest rivers.
  • Source of the Chang Jiang river.
  • Source of the Huang He river.

KOREA STRAIT

  • A waterway between southern South Korea and southwestern Japan.
  • Connects the Sea of Japan with the East China Sea.
  • East from the Yellow Sea
  • Lies south of Korea.

HONSHU

  • Largest island of japan.
  • Most of Japan's industry is manufactured here.
  • Tokyo is it's anchor.
  • Most of Japan's population resides here.
