  • It is a major part of their national economy
  • It consists of half the calories in the average persons diet
  • It is the source of nearly 100 million livelihood

  • The worlds 12th longest river (2,703 miles long)
  • Countries in region created Mekong river commission to control use
  • Due to rapids and waterfalls, navigation is difficult
  • Major trading route

  • The Outback-
  • Vast, remote, arid area in Australia
  • Extremely rich in iron, aluminum, manganese, and uranium ores
  • Agriculture and tourism compile major economic activity
  • Population around 690,000

  • Forms major area of Wellington living
  • Mostly pasture and crop growing
  • Has a few notable gorges

  • Fiji-

  • Country comprises archipelago of 332 islands
  • Most of these islands were volcanically erected
  • Population of 840,000

  • No permanent human residents

PHILIPPINES

  • The Philippines is an archipelago made of 7,107 islands
  • Approximate land area of all islands is 300,000 sq. km
  • It has around 22,500 miles of coastline, 5th longest in world
  • It is fixated on the western fringe of the pacific ring of fire-seismic and volcanic activity
