DELTA:

THE TRIANGULAR-SHAPED LAND FOUND AT THE MOUTH OF SOME LARGE RIVERS. EXAMPLES: VOLGA, RHINE

Plateau: Elevated flat land
Examples: Ozark plateau, plateau of Tibet

Cape: A point of land extending into the sea; it is usually smaller than a peninsula
Example: Cape Horn, cape of good hope

Plain: A broad expanse of generally high and flatland, also called a tableland.
Examples: North European plane, West Siberian plain

Archipelago: either a group of islands or body of water that has many islands in it.
Examples: Indonesia Archipelago, Philippines archipelago

Isthmus: A narrow strip of land, with water on both sides, that connects to larger land masses.
Example: Panama, Kra

Peninsula: A master gland almost entirely surrounded by water. This usually connected to the mainland by a narrow neck.
Examples: Arabian, Florida, Baja California

CANYON:

AN ELONGATED LOWLAND BETWEEN MOUNTAINS, HILLS, OR OTHER UPLANDS. EX: GRAND CANYON, KINGS CANYON

STRAIT: NARROW PASSAGE OF WATER CONNECTING TO LARGER BODIES OF WATER

  • Bering strait
  • Bosporus strait
  • Magellan

Valley: A deep near depression in the earths surface often having a river running through it.
Examples: silicon valley, great Rift Valley
