First we have to look at what internal migration is

Internal migration is the movement of people from one defined area to another within a country

WHY WOULD PEOPLE MIGRATE INTERNALLY?

  • The weather conditions could affect the crop in rural areas forcing people to move to better places
  • Poor quality of life means that people will leave and go to the city to get a better life
  • Poor health care makes it hard for people to live healthy so they move to the cities
  • In most parts there is not enough arable land to live off

WHY WOULD PEOPLE GO TO THE CITY ?

  • Better chances of getting a job
  • The hope of a better life
  • Better education because that is one of the best ways to escape poverty
  • Better hospitals and better entertainment

  • They are investing in fresh water supplies and waste treatment facilities
  • They are trying to make electricity available to all
  • They are also trying to educate the locals, stuff like basic literacy. There is a government scheme called Bolsa Familia that gives the family a grant so they can send their kids to school.
