  • The northeasterly winds can each hurricane level
  • He highest peak is the volcano Emi Koussi

SAHEL

  • Drought is common
  • Known as the cultural of central Africa
  • Rainfall is slowly decreasing
  • The unstable climate makes it difficult for countries to reach high populations

  • Stretches approximately 1,600 miles
  • The Berber people lived here for thousands of years
  • Was home to the Atlas bear,which is know extinct
  • Has several passes

NILE RIVER

  • Worlds longest river
  • Around 40 million people live the Delta
  • In 1787 the Rosetta Stone was found in the Nile Delta in the city of Rosetta
  • Creates a fertile green valley across the desert

LAKE VICTORIA

  • Africa's largest lake
  • Largest tropical lake in the world
  • Named after Queen Victoria of the UK
  • About 400,000 years old

ETHIOPIAN PLATEAU

  • Humans and their ancestor have lived here roughly about 4 million years
  • Comprised largely of the Bale and Simien mountain ranges
  • The Great Rift Valley cuts through it
  • Most of the natural soil has been destroyed

GREAT RIFT VALLEY

  • Location of 2 visible tectonic plates
  • It's the oldest and best defined rift
  • Formed around 35 million years ago
  • Approximately 3,600 miles long
