- Gets it's from the yellow silt it carries
- The course has been changed at least 5 times
- Known as the mother of the Chinese nation

- A prime area for finding dinosaur fossils
- Sand dunes are mainly in the east
- It becomes more fertile towards the west
- The soil holds stone weapons and tools of nomads from over 100,000 years ago

- Over 4,000 years old mummies were discovered there
