PRESENTATION OUTLINE

GEOMETRY IN THE
REAL WORLD

POINT
specifies only location; no length, width, or depth, represented as a dot

LINE
continues on forever in both directions, has one dimension:length

PLANE
flat and 2 dimensional, it also continues forever in all directions

SEGMENT
part of a line between two points

PERPENDICULAR LINES
line segments that intersect at a 90 degree angle

PARALLEL LINES
line segments that are the same length apart and never intersect

ACUTE ANGLE
an angle that measures less than 90 degrees

OBTUSE ANGLE
an angle that measures more than 90 degrees

RIGHT ANGLE
an angle that measures exactly 90 degrees

VERTICAL ANGLES
lines opposite each other when crossed

CIRCLE
shape with all points the same distance from its center

SQUARE
figure with four equal straight sides / four right angles

COLLINEAR POINTS
set of points that lie in a straight line

COPLANAR POINTS
set of points that lie on the same plane

ACUTE TRIANGLE
a triangle with all angles less than 90 degrees

how to make:
perpendicular lines

how to make:
rectangle

how to make : segment
